BÜNDELI

A photography and painting project, I created as part of my academic art education at ZHDK art school in Zurich.

In Bündeli, I explore the Swiss practice of bundling waste paper — an everyday ritual that reveals deeper layers of discipline, order, and ambivalence. These neatly tied stacks, lying on Zurich’s spotless streets like strange gift packages, inspired me to photograph them in black and white, echoing the weight of the news they contain.

In the studio, I respond to these monochrome images with vibrant paintings and collages, layering color over discarded paper and headlines.

The work is an aesthetic reflection on contrasts: local order and global chaos, beauty and bureaucracy, black&white and color.

Can one paint over the gravity of the global situation in bright colors? Save oneself onto the Swiss island amid global chaos? Painting is like bundling.
